This three night, option of the Wild Coast Meander will give folk an insight into the mystery and beauty of the Wild Coast and it’s people, guarantee your imminent return to these shores.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive at East London Airport by 9h00 am or the previous night (see Meander Inn). Early departure for Wavecrest, the journey takes two and a half hours The route is firstly along the N2 to Butterworth, where one turns down towards the coast on a rural road, immediately one has a feeling of peace and tranquility, you notice the birds, the beautiful Nguni cattle and the woman walking regally tall with a large bundle of wood or bucket of water on her head. Arrive at Wavecrest around 12h00. Settle in and enjoy lunch overlooking the magical view. Afternoon activities can be a canoe trail up the Nxaxo river to view the southernmost natural Mangrove swamps in Africa. A walk in the indigenous forest or on a seemingly endless beach to the north – east of the resort. The setting of this resort is unsurpassed with views stretching for 6km along the beach, amazing birdlife and apart from the natural activities available the hotel also has a small Spa for massages and treatments, tennis and squash courts, pool and Jacuzzi. Day 2 After breakfast depart on a 14km hike to Trennery’s Hotel with a local guide to assist you and a local porter to assist you carry your pack. Hikers usually enjoy their packed picnic lunch at a shipwreck, the jacaranda, before getting there a river needs to be crossed. However your guide will paddle you across safely in a stabilized canoe. Arrive at Trennery’s late afternoon to a well deserved cup of tea. The walk is partially on a beach and on grassy banks adjacent to the coast. Day 3 After breakfast depart on the next 14km to Morgan Bay Hotel, or first partake in a wonderful optional extra, Trevor’s Trail. This three hour adventure entails about 4km walking and sections per boat. It is a highlight and we urge you to consider partaking. Should you opt for Trevor’s Trail you should arrive back at 12h00pm after a refreshing drink depart for Morgan Bay with a local guide. Packed picnic lunch on route. After 6km cross the Kei River by pontoon. Thereafter a further 5km to Morgan Bay, your friendly hotel for the last night. Amazing cuisine and hospitality is the order of the day. Day 4 After breakfast, you will be collected to return to East London from where you will continue with your holiday. Thank you for leaving your footprints on the Wild Coast.
